Context
Betika operates a sport betting platform with more than 5 million users. The existing system had reached its limits, and the business needed a platform that could take the load, evolve quickly, and be operated by the in-house team.
What I did
Architect and lead developer of the rewrite:
- Rewrote the platform from scratch, 100% Elixir, on a gRPC micro-services architecture.
- Led the development team on the betting core engine – the highest-throughput and most correctness-critical part of the system.
- Planned and carried out the migration of the production system and its MySQL data set, without service interruption for existing users.
- Set up the CI/CD processes for the new platform.
- Mentored junior developers on Elixir and on distributed system design.
Outcome
A production platform rebuilt on a single, coherent stack, with the team able to own and extend it.
