Context
A banking IT services organization wanted to modernize its infrastructure management practices and develop DevOps capabilities within its production teams.
The objective was to move from traditional infrastructure operations toward Infrastructure as Code (IaC), version-controlled configuration and automated deployment practices.
What I did
I designed and delivered a progressive, hands-on training program for production engineers over a one-year period.
The program covered the complete infrastructure automation workflow:
- DevOps and Infrastructure as Code foundations
- Git & GitHub for versioning infrastructure and configuration
- Docker for containerized workloads
- Kubernetes for container orchestration
- GitHub Actions for infrastructure automation and CI/CD
- Terraform for declarative infrastructure provisioning
- Ansible for configuration management and automation
The approach combined training with progressive adoption of the practices and tools within the team’s operational environment.
Outcome
After one year, the production teams had integrated Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices into their day-to-day work.
The technologies introduced during the program were adopted and implemented within the IT services organization, turning the training into an effective skills-transfer and operational transformation initiative rather than a standalone course.
