A long-term collaboration with a telecom technology company developing software for carrier-grade network appliances.
Over several years, I supported the evolution of the product and its technical architecture, working closely with engineering and management teams.
The engagement progressively extended beyond individual development projects into a trusted senior consulting role, providing architectural continuity and technical guidance as the product and its requirements evolved.
What I did
I acted as software architect, technical lead and senior technical consultant, with responsibilities spanning both strategic and hands-on technical work.
My contributions included:
- Defining and evolving the software architecture of distributed telecom appliances
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams
- Supporting strategic technology choices and long-term technical direction
- Designing and reviewing distributed system components and interfaces
- Advising on product evolution, maintainability and technical risks
- Contributing hands-on expertise when complex technical issues required deeper investigation
- Bridging product requirements, telecom constraints and software architecture
The technical environment included Erlang and Elixir for distributed and fault-tolerant software, SNMP for network management and integration, and Linux-based telecom appliances.
Outcome
The long-term nature of the collaboration provided architectural continuity and senior technical leadership across multiple stages of the product lifecycle.
Rather than focusing only on individual implementations, my role was to help maintain a coherent technical direction over time: supporting engineering decisions, anticipating architectural consequences, reducing technical risk and helping the organization evolve a complex telecom product sustainably.
